An AI workspace is a hosted environment where a business sets up AI assistants for each part of the company, connects them to its own documents and systems, and runs recurring tasks on a schedule, with every result, cost and data location visible. It sits between a chat tool, which answers when asked, and a custom AI project, which needs a developer.
What does recurring work need?
ChatGPT, Copilot and Claude are good at answering. Recurring work needs a fixed task, fixed sources, a schedule, feedback that sticks, and a log. In 2026, nearly five in ten Norwegian enterprises with at least ten employees used one or more AI technologies, up from three in ten in 2025 (Statistics Norway, 2026).
Why a custom project is too much
The alternative has been to hire someone to build an agent with a framework like LangChain or one of the open-source agent runtimes. That works for companies with engineers. For everyone else it means a quote and a project.
What does an AI workspace include?
| Part | What it does | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Assistants | One per business area, with its own instructions, sources and data policy | Accounting shouldn’t see HR files |
| Tasks | Run now or on a schedule; results in the app and by email | The work happens without anyone asking |
| Skills | A task that worked becomes reusable with one click, no code | It becomes a skill every assistant can reuse |
| Knowledge | Google Drive folders, SharePoint libraries, uploaded files, kept in sync | It works from your real documents |
| Memory | What it learned from your feedback: visible, editable, deletable | It gets better, and you can see how |
Those five parts are the whole of Nrth OS. The list is short on purpose.
What does “without a project” look like?
Our bar: someone without a technical background sets up an assistant and gets a first useful result in under ten minutes, without reading anything. Five steps: choose where your data is processed (EU or US), describe your company in two fields, create an assistant for one area, give it a folder, run a suggested task. Then give feedback and put it on a schedule.
When do you need one?
- You have at least one task that repeats weekly, reads documents, and takes someone more than an hour.
- You don’t have a developer, or you don’t want to depend on one.
- You need to answer “where is our data processed” to a customer or auditor.
- You have tried a chat tool and found that the time saved was real but small.
If none of those apply, a chat subscription is probably all you need for now.
Next step
Nrth OS is onboarding founding pilots in the Nordics and the US. Apply for the pilot program, or read how your data is handled first.
